The sophisticated Metal Grey is the latest addition to our linen bedding range. This colour enriches and punctuates the soft neutral tones in our collection.
We are proud to be one of just a handful of South African linen weavers. All our linen is woven at our Mill in Plettenberg Bay, made from the finest Belgian grown flax. The duvets and pillowcases are finished with a classic Oxford border and hidden mother of pearl buttons. Each piece is carefully packed in a pure linen drawstring bag for safe-keeping.
The Benefits of Linen
Linen is considered to be one of the most luxurious fabrics, and for good reason. Here are some of our favourite linen qualities:
Temperature regulating fibre.
Pure linen is perfect for summer bedding as it breathes easily and remains cool, crisp and dry. However because of it’s thermo-insulation qualities, when the weather is cold, the linen fabric carefully saves the body’s heat too, making it a versatile fabric that can be used throughout the year.
Linen is made from one of the oldest cultivated agricultural plants in the world, flax. In Ancient Egypt it was known as ‘Woven Moonlight’ because of its sheen and fresh luxurious texture. Despite all those thousands or years behind its back, linen remains forever young. Linen bedding is rich in texture and more durable than any other natural fibre. It’s a timeless classic that softens and gains elegance with every wash. This is why good quality linen becomes a family heirloom, passed on and treasured by generations.
Linen is a true eco-fibre. Flax grows naturally and requires less water and fewer pesticides than cotton. It is gentle on the land and easy to incorporate into crop rotation cycles, preventing soil depletion. The entire flax plant can be used, leaving no waste.
As spring makes itself known and warmer weather beckons, it’s time to pack away the down duvets. Light summer bedding is complimented by the crisp freshness of pure linen.
