Terracotta Linen | Inspired by the Earth.
From Field to Fibre
Our linen bedding is woven with the world’s most ancient and noble fibre – pure flax.
Grown in Upper Normandy by our farmers from Terre de Lin, in fertile fields that bloom with blue-gold flowers.
Harvested after 100 days – and then another 100 days to rett and scutch and spin.
From Flanders to Bergamo, the thread are then spun into golden-grey fibres by our Italian Master Spinners, Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale, and yarn dyed for brilliant colour fastness.
Then by sea it wings its way to our mill in Plettenberg Bay – where thousands of threads are warped and woven, cut, sewn, pressed and finished.
Guided by human hand at every step to produce linen bedding like no other.
Carrying with it all the artistry, all the heritage, of centuries of passed-on skill.

So Why linen?
Linen for luxury, and longevity. A fibre of heirloom quality, of an unmatched feel.
Linen is breathable through all seasons – tempering the temperature no matter the weather. And the final feel? Cool and crisp to the touch. Yet warm, inviting, once under its covers.
Crisp when first woven, linen develops a luxurious lived-in feel over time, ageing gracefully.
Once you’ve slept under the breathable texture of 100% linen, nothing else quite compares.
Naturally Low Impact
At Mungo, we take pride in using traceable yarn sources.
Flax farming has an inherently minimal environmental footprint – requiring little, if any, chemical interference.
Our linen is spun by Master Spinners in Northern Italy, who hold OEKO-TEX and B Corp certifications for their commitment to socially and environmentally responsible practices. The yarn is meticulously dyed, ensuring brilliant and long-lasting colours, as per the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for harmful substance testing.
We then warp, weave, cut, finish, and sew our linen in small batches at our mill in Plettenberg Bay – South Africa’s first GOTS-certified weaving mill.
