Introducing our dreamiest linen yet…
Soft and subtle grey has always been a favourite on our range…
So we’ve added a new iteration – the Grey Mist.
Woven with a unique melange fleck that adds visual character and texture.
As always, our linen yarn is sourced from our Italian master spinners, and woven by us at the Mungo Mill in Plettenberg Bay.
Linen yarn is derived from the long fibres found in the stem of the flax plant.
Producing the spun thread is a time-consuming process, something that our supplier, Linificio Canapificio Nazionale, knows all about. LCN’s flax is grown in Italy, France and Belgium, where the damp oceanic climate and rich soil is suitable. Once harvested, the plant is taken through the stages of rippling, retting, scutching and combing… all before being spun into the highest quality yarn.
From there, it wings its way to our mill in Plettenberg Bay.
Today we are proudly one of the few remaining linen weavers in the country.
Linen is crisp when first woven. Although producers stone wash it to hasten the process of softening, this artificial method compromises the integrity of the cloth. At Mungo we don’t stone wash; we use quality linen and a well-constructed weave. Initially crisp to the touch, your linen bedding becomes more yielding to the touch. Softening with time and use, it develops its charm.
Breathable yet cosy, linen bedding is perfect for year-round use.
Its unique ability to insulate ensures that linen never becomes clammy during the summer months, and in winter retains its warmth for cosy sleep.
A first batch of duvet covers, fitted & flat sheets and pillowcases, is now available online and in store.
