Next month we are off to New York to exhibit at one of the most renowned annual trade shows in the world – NY Now. Preparation is in full swing at Mungo.
Although this is the 4th time that Mungo will be showcasing at NY Now, it is the first time that we will be going independently! This time, we’ll have our own exhibit in the Artisan Resource sector of the show, alongside innovative designers and artisanal products from across the globe. It’s safe to say we are super excited!!

From August 21st – 24th
We will be taking our vibrant range of African Threads. For the first time we’ll be exhibiting the Mungo Mali Cloth, which is still in the final design phase at the Mungo Mill in Plettenberg Bay. The finishing tweaks are being made and the looms are being prepared for production.
Donna, our wholesale and logistics manager is currently working on our stand. Last year, before Maison and Objet, she was faced with the daunting task to design an exhibition stand that was easy to assemble and dismantle. It needed to be light, low bulk and flexible enough to recycle for future tradeshows. She came up with the idea of copper piping, having never soldered anything in her life.
With great determination, Donna constructed models to calculate how to fit the pieces together. Following careful preparation she built and soldered the stand single-handedly. Each piece meticulously labelled to ensure that it could be easily put together during the time constraints of show set-up. After being such a success at Maison, Donna is hard at work adapting the design for NY Now.
