In the interest of preserving the longevity of your Mungo textiles, and for a full set of washing and drying instructions, and please read our Care Guide.

Must I wash my towels before I use them?

All of our towels are pre-washed.

Will my items shrink?

As our goods are all pre-washed and finished all the shrinking has happened. However we do have a 5% shrinking clause as natural fibres can respond differently to certain washes.

Do you sell wholesale to other stores?

Yes we do. Contact our Trade and wholesale department for more information.

Do you manufacture for other brands and do private label?

No we do not. All of our products are manufactured for Mungo at our Mill.

Do you weave with hemp?

We have in past, but yarn supply is a challenge in SA. We will are keeping an eye out for it though.

Why are your product more expensive than other homeware stores?

We have a thought on this topic. ‘If it is not costing you, who is it costing?’
It is costing the environment and the unfairly paid labour forces that are having to work in compromised conditions to mass produce poor quality that will end up in a landfill. At Mungo we defy this by creating a working environment that is world class and we do not compromise on quality and we only use natural fibres. Our mill is even open to the public so you can come and see for yourself.

What does Mungo mean?

Mungo is an old textile term that refers to taking old scrap yarns (mainly wool) and fibres and weaving them into something new. Although it is not applicable to Mungo in the literal sense of the word, all of the looms at the mill have been carefully restored, retro fitted and re-purposed – old looms weaving something contemporary and new. Read more about us on our story page.

How do you pronounce our name?

You pronounce it like the fruit Mango. But swop the ‘a’ for a ‘u’. Rhymes with Bungalow!
