Silky soft scarf, woven from pure bamboo.

A renewable eco-crop that is kind to soil and skin.

Highly water-efficient, naturally renewable and fast-growing, today bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable fibres. Derived from the pulp of the woody bamboo plant, it is then combed and spun into a yarn of exceptional comfort.

A luxurious look and feel.

Bamboo textiles are loved for their soft and lustrous handle.

Lightweight and breathable, the Bamboo Scarf is suited for wear throughout the seasons.
Naturally anti-bacterial, it will keep its fresh look (and scent) over time.

Generously sized, your Bamboo Scarf can be wrapped once or twice, or used as a shawl.

Craftsmanship.

Our Bamboo Scarves are woven on our antique Ruti looms. The unique feature of these looms is their ability to weave a true selvedge – a tightly woven, non-fraying edge particular only to looms which use a shuttle.

Based on the design of the well-known 19th century Northrop, these intelligent pirn-change looms notified the weaver when a warp thread broke. This semi-automatic capability allowed a single weaver to work over 30 looms at a time. Today, although the exact history of our Rutis is uncertain, we believe they are circa 1960. You can see them in action at the Mungo Mill in Plettenberg Bay, which we open daily to the public.
