In 2018, we launched our very own Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, MOVE. Through MOVE we enact our commitment to positively impact the community in which we exist – to take nothing for granted, and to work in ways that benefit both people and planet.
Part of our focus with this has been on the Kids of Kurland School Project, a volunteer organisation providing life skills education to children in Plettenberg Bay to help them overcome the social issues in their community.
Each year we invite students from The Crags Primary School to attend a tour and workshop at our mill. Under the guidance of our designer, Lenore, the students try their hand at designing their own kikoi stripe and colourway. From the designs created, one kikoi simulation is chosen as the winner, and put into production at the Mungo Mill.
In 2019 the Kids of Kurland Kikoi was the Mungo Hope colourway and in 2020, the Mungo Moon colourway.
We can proudly say that all the profits of the Kids of Kurland Kikoi will go back into her school to fund an additional teacher.
Introducing ‘Kids of Kurland Kikoi’ – a 100% cotton kikoi that can be enjoyed all the more with an appreciation for the forces that came together to make it.
