Closing Up Shop. For Now.
When One Door Closes…
On Thursday we officially closed the doors on all our stores, as well as our Mungo Mill.
We won’t sugarcoat it. It was an eerie day. There were some long looks and sad goodbyes.
Prior to closure, we had a word from our MD, Dax Holding on the grounds of Old Nick Village, to discuss the severity of the situation, the measures we all need to take to stay safe and to practice social distancing.
- Practicing social distancing
For over 30 years, we have been removing the old yellowwood door that marks the entrance to our flagship store in Plettenberg Bay. In the morning it comes off, and at close of shop it’s re-hinged to see another day. On Thursday that door was put back on until we can open it again. A moment that captured for us the gravity of the situation.
But as the saying goes, “we haven’t come this far to only come this far.” So we’re hopeful that when one door comes off, another reopens…
A Way to Say Thank You
We have also been touched by the well wishes and messages of positivity that have come our way. As a thank you for your continued support we are offering a 20% off site wide sale during the lockdown. All orders will be logged but fulfilled after lockdown. For this we thank you – it will allow independent businesses like our own keep the cogs turning.
Stay Connected
We will continue to keep you all updated as to what we’re up to, and when we’re ready to open up shop again. If you aren’t already, we recommend signing up to our newsletter – to keep in touch and have the first word on what’s happening.
- Unfinished business…
- Boarding up the Mungo Cape Town store
We’re aware that the situation is changing day by day, which means things might change for Mungo too. Currently we’re in the R&D stage of trying to produce products that may be effective during this time – first for the medical professionals on the frontline and then for our customers. This may allow us to reopen the doors of the Mungo Mill, and keep our cogs turning a bit longer… We’ll let you know once we do.
